Black Friday Cyber crime awareness event at Nationwide building society

Thank you to everyone who stopped and spoke to me at the crime prevention event on Sat 22nd Nov at the Nationwide building society on Chingford Mount Road E4.

Ahead of the Black Friday online sales event starting this week I was trying to raise awareness of online cyber crime. I urge bargain hunters to stay alert to cyber scams ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Check the shop is legitimate by looking for reviews on trusted websites,

.Secure your important online accounts with 2 step verification. This instantly toughens up your online security.

Check out ‘as a guest’ if you can. Do not allow a website to store your bank card details.

Never pay by a direct bank transfer. Use a credit cards if possible for large purchases as you have more consumer rights protections.

Beware of delivery scams. If you receive a message or call about a delivery, stop and think if the request is genuine.
